The former Jurong Entertainment Centre (JEC) is now being redeveloped. The developer, CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust, plans to turn the site into a mixed-use development with retail and residential units on the top floors. The project is expected to take five years to complete. The developer currently has 23 properties, with 96 percent of its assets located in Singapore. The company recently entered the Australian market, buying three properties to be developed by 2022. The redeveloped JEC will also include an IMAX cinema and rooftop garden.
The new mall aims to become a trendsetting lifestyle destination for residents of Jurong. The project will be operated by CapitaMalls Asia and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2012. Grace Fu, Senior Minister of National Development and Education, says that the Jurong area will undergo an exciting transformation over the next few years. She added that the plans are aimed at long-term sustainability. The government plans to develop Jurong as a major regional hub in the coming years.
The JCube’s design was influenced by the concept of an ice cube. It is the first mall in Singapore to feature the first Olympic-size ice rink, and it will also house the first IMAX theatre in the suburbs. Despite these new features, the JCube will still need to compete with other malls in the area for footfall.
Shuqun Secondary School
This new development is close to Jurong East MRT station and Jurong Country Club. It is also near several F&B and retail outlets, as well as educational institutions such as Dulwich College and Millennia Institute. This makes it a convenient place to live for families with kids.
This development will include a new sports and recreation complex. It will also feature Singapore’s first IMAX theatre. It will also be situated near the future Jurong East Transport Hub. It will be adjacent to a neighbourhood park and canal.
This development will also be home to prestigious schools such as Fuhua Primary School, Princess Elizabeth Primary School, and Shuqun Secondary School. The Jurong General Hospital and Jurong Polyclinics are also close by. The development is also surrounded by recreational facilities, including the Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, Jurong Country Club, and Jurong Bird Park.
The project will also be home to a Chinese language school. There will also be a bus interchange nearby. The development is expected to be completed by 2022. The site is a prime location near two major business districts. The units will be fully furnished, with amenities like a mini-concert hall. The project is also near the Jurong East MRT station.

The JCube is a 99-year leasehold commercial property that sits on an area of 7,771 square metres, with a Gross Floor Area (GFA) of 23,578 square metres. The current development’s pricing range is $1,480 psf for one-bedroom units and $1,475 psf for four-bedroom units. The project is located close to the Jurong East MRT station and four malls. It is also close to the Kallang Ice World, a world-class ice skating rink that has gallery-style spectator seating.
The new development is expected to include a new entertainment complex, including an IMAX cinema and the first Olympic-sized ice rink in the suburbs. It will also have the JCube Shopping Centre, one of the country’s top shopping malls, which is open seven days a week. It has a diverse range of shops and restaurants, as well as a cinema and an IMAX theatre.
Prices are still low for this project. Some units are priced as low as $1,190, with a plot ratio of 6.09. It is located in a prime location, near Jurong Lake Park, Jurong Country Park, and the Jurong Country Club.
